The Investment Practitioners Community of Practice (IP COP) is a forum for IPs run by IPs. As frontline staff that are client facing and responsible for doing deals, they are the engine for catalysing gender-smart investments and delivering on the 2X Global objectives. The COP was set-up in 2018, to support IPs to mainstream gender-smart investing within their institutions.

2X Global was founded on the principle that together we can move further and faster in gender-smart investing. The IP CoP is a mechanism for investors to move faster to deploy more capital to gender-smart investing and to do so in a more impactful way.

We are intentional about the ‘secret sauce’ we want to create in this COP, and focus on building meaningful and trusted relationships between IPs. We provide a confidential platform where IPs can collaborate on all aspects of their work, and help them to understand why gender-smart investing is good business and how to do it, by enabling access to knowledge, insights, tools and opportunities for co-investment.

The COP is demand-led; all activities are based on the current needs of the COP members. These include:

  • Regular group sessions;

  • Sharing of co-investment opportunities, internal strategies, policies and plans as well as emerging best-practice from the field

  • Creation of tools and training resources

Successes to date

Noteworthy achievements include a modular training programme covering the investment cycle, available to all members, and a series of highly popular ‘Quick-Win’ training sessions. These sessions are run every year, and cover gender-smart investing indirectly through funds and financial institutions, and directly across sectors such as agriculture, energy and manufacturing. They also include thematic areas such as innovative partnerships and how to apply the 2X eligibility criteria.

Those investors that adopted gender-smart investing early on have matured from convincing their IPs on why this is important to how to do it. 

The IP COP is run by IP representatives from 2X Global member institutions with strategic advisor and facilitator, Chintal Barot, CoSustain Consulting.

Get involved

We are inviting participation from investment practitioners, including investment officers, investment managers, those involved in deal sourcing, due diligence, portfolio management and exits. We are launching a new programme of work to support investee companies and invite those interested in engaging with their investee companies to contact us.
