2X Certification Status Update
We are delighted to share some exciting updates on 2X Global’s standard setting workstream and our key strategic initiative, 2X Certification. We have been deep in co-creation with our members and the broader gender finance field on the 2X Certification methodology and framework, and are excited to announce a significant milestone in this journey.
Over the last months we have been engaging with a broad set of stakeholders, received incredibly insightful feedback during our public comment period and have continued our co-creation process to refine and sharpen the 2X Certification mechanism.
The methodology builds on the solid foundation of the 2X Criteria and evolves this standard by creating pathways towards what ‘good’, ‘advanced’ and ‘best-in-class’ looks like. It also comprehensively assesses the breadth and depth of gender efforts for a core set of “Dimensions”, across the full value chain and gender “Themes” where actions can be taken to drive impact. The ultimate goal of 2X Certification is to provide nuanced evaluation, guidance, and action strategies to create more transparency, accountability and credibility - and ultimately deeper impact - in the global field of finance.
As we head into the next phase of this work, we are excited to be launching a Learning Lab and Pilot programme, which is focused on strategic learning, live testing of the user experience and deep dive into the content and overall methodology- all of which are geared towards refining the overall framework and experience. This learning and development journey starts mid-November 2023 and will run until April 2024. This programme is envisioned as a two-phased process, all of which will explore users’ practical experiences of the operational, content-focused and technical aspects of 2X Certification.
This represents a crucial step in putting our enhanced methodology to the test, ensuring its effectiveness and relevance for all stakeholders involved. To be considered for the pilot selection, please complete the Expression of Interest form by January 14, 2024.
Once the Learning Lab and Pilot Programme phase is complete, final integration and operationalisation of 2X Certification mechanism will take place over the first half of 2024, with an anticipated full roll out of 2X Certification set for June 2024.
This milestone is a testament to the dedication and contributions of our 2X Global community, key gender finance stakeholders, thematic experts and other ecosystem partners. We are grateful for all your engagement as we set new pathways in gender lens investing collectively.
